Wolf

The beast's paws sunk deep into the muddy ground, holding on to the slippery terrain with his claws. He shook his body side to side, getting rid of the excess water that drenched his thick fur. Behind him, the girl that followed slipped, falling to the ground, and sliding downwards on the sodden hill. His big hairy hand grabbed her by the collar and lifted her as if she weighed less than a feather. His big yellow eyes peering at her through the darkness of the forest.

"You must be careful, Young Mistress," said the beast that accompanied her. He sat her down on the ground gently and did not let go of her until she had a steady footing. She stood there in the dark, shivering and cold. Her dress, boots, and cloak muddy and soaked.

"I'm sorry, I can't see a thing," she said, wiping the water and her dark hair that stuck to her face.

"I know, Mistress," said the beast, who could see in the dark as clear as day. With two fingers, the beast-man reached behind her and put her hood on, "it'll help with the rain," he said.

When they reached the top of the hill, the beast leaped on top of a large stone and pointed his long snout to the whipping wind, but smelled only the rain and the pine trees nearby . Closing his big yellow eyes, he then perked his tuft ears and gave a deep growl.

"What is it, Wolf?" Asked the girl at the bottom of the stone, staring up at the shadowy silhouette that was the beast.

"I hear them in the distance, the huntsmen and their dogs. They have lost our track and scent, thanks to this rain. We must press on," he said.

"good," said the girl, breathing easily. The beast looked up at the ochre-light of the moon that filtered through the rain clouds, and a very human fear crept in his thoughts.

"In a few hours, the light of the full moon will be gone, and the sun will bring an end to my curse. I will be powerless," he snarled in anger. "Mistress, I will no longer be able to protect you," said The Big Bad Wolf.

"We'll make it by daybreak, Wolf, and you won't have to. Let's keep on moving," said Red Riding Hood as she went on ahead, and The Big Bad Wolf close at her heels.
